GP Registrars
GP Registrars are fully-qualified doctors who are undertaking further training to become general medical practitioners. The registrars join the practice for periods of six or twelve months and are trained under the supervision of Dr. Fish and Dr. Appleton as part of the Durham & Tees Valley GP Training Scheme.
For training purposes, registrars must occasionally video record consultations. You will never be recorded without consent and our reception staff will make you aware prior to your appointment if they are recording their consultations on that day. If you do not wish to be recorded, please let the receptionist and doctor know - this will not affect the care you receive.
Nurse Practitioners
Nurse practitioners can assess patients, prescribe medication, make referrals to secondary care, sign fit notes and possess a wide range of skills and knowledge. If they feel you require a review by a GP, they will arrange this for you. They are highly competent clinicians and can manage a wide variety of illnesses and medical conditions.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners
In addition to the roles undertaken by nurse practitioners, advanced nurse practitioners have undertaken further training and gained additional qualifications in clinical assessment. They often have an area of medicine in which they specialise or take a lead role in.
